“There aren’t many restoration projects like this left – most of the beautiful boats out there have already been rescued by someone,” explains Barney Sandeman, classic yacht broker and director of the Sandeman Yacht Company in Poole, UK, which is handling the sale of Conidaw.
This yacht has a rich history, including was the only yacht left, staying back until the Panzer Division burst onto the quay. On leaving Calais with 165 soldiers, disaster struck and she ran aground. Those on board couldn’t quite believe their luck when a nearby bomb explosion jolted her off the sandbank, and was at last able to make her escape.
