GO WEST
Many of us will have experienced the disappointment of planned holidays and Mini adventures being cancelled due to the pandemic. My wife Emilia and I had hoped to travel to Italy for the International Mini Meeting and should have been touring in France, accompanied by our Citroën 2CVowning friends, Patrick and Louise. As this couldn't happen we decided to take a staycation trip to the West of England.
In true Monte Carlo Rally style, cars started from different points; the Citroën crew from East Grinstead and the Mini team from Guildford. We met at Holmsley, in Hampshire, in good time for lunch at the Old Station Tea Rooms and we even managed to see some of the famous New Forest ponies as we continued westward in convoy. The warm July sun was smiling on us but sunshine was going to prove rather elusive during this trip. We called in at the National Trust property at Kingston Lacey, near Wimborne. Patrick and I snoozed in deckchairs whilst the ladies took a tour of the gardens. The skies were clouding over and, as it seemed like we were in for a drop of rain, we decided to move on. To
