My interest concerns vehicle battery types. From early lead-acid types to more modern “AGM” [Absorbent Glass Mat]-type lead-acids (with their relatively low self-discharge rates), why haven’t these been replaced in cars by Ni-Cads and especially lithium-ion batteries? 1,000-amp lithium-ion jump starters are available for less than $100, are about the size of two packs of cigarettes and stay charged almost forever!
