that's life!

Welcome!

One of my old schoolfriends, Carol, posted on Facebook this week a picture of her very first grandchild. A new bub is always reason for celebration, so her matescrew, but the rest of the team had some sweet names for their own grandparents. There was a Grumpa and a Gumpa, and April has a Papa Don, who she used to get confused and call pappadum, as in the Indian flatbread. Malloree called her parents’ fathers Big Pop and Little Pop. While her mum Janelle likes that Malloree’s brother’s kids call her Nanelle. We all loved Sarah’s Auntie Alison, who felt far too young to be a great aunt at 41, so styled herself Great Alison. My good friend Toni’s kids call her father Ohoo. The first time I overheard her referring to him in a phone call with her daughter, Poesy, I just to ask who on earth she was talking about. Turns out Toni’s dad, Barry, used to call out ‘Yoohoo’ whenever he popped over for a visit. See what I mean about kids coming up with their own names? I’d love to hear any special names you have.
