IT BECAME clear early in his life that he was struggling with mental health issues. When he was still at school, his parents noticed he battled to focus, and he quit university in his second year.

Andries Gous was relieved when doctors diagnosed him with bipolar disorder – it explained why he suffered extreme mood swings and horrible panic attacks.

“A chemical imbalance in my brain causes drastic mood swings,” he tells YOU.

“It’s like an Eskom account – it goes up, then it goes down. I need help to keep that on an even keel.”
