We caught up with Lance Whitehead in August at this year’s British Classic Regatta in Cowes, where his Dartmouth Distillery Co was providing a pop-up gin bar for competitors, and delivering Dartmouth English Gin and tonic to crews, by RIB, as they returned from a day’s racing around the Solent. Discussions revealed a family business founded on centuries of traditional seafaring tradition in Dartmouth and the surrounding area – shipwrights, master mariners, Brixham trawlermen, which has given the company its nautical identity.
