Rutland Caravan and Camping, Rutland

It’s only five miles from this Rutland site to watch the ospreys fly majestically over Rutland Water.

Easily found and approached, Rutland’s reception is very cheerful, friendly and professional.

You’re allocated one of the nearly flat and wide hardstanding (on shingle), fully serviced pitches, with grass pitches available, too. Most circle around the main facilities building. There’s also a separate rally field and another with a children’s play area at its centre.

The facilities building is good and to modern standards, being warm, very clean and very recently refurbished. It includes family washrooms and also houses a reasonably priced laundry. Dog walkers will appreciate the ‘Mucky Paws’ dog shower room – and the dogs will like the warm water showers!

Next to reception is a clearly popular airy marquee where very reasonable breakfast, lunch and dinner can be had. There’s also an indoor heated swimming pool, but I didn’t use this.

The site feels very secure with gated card entry to both the main entrance and to the wooded path to the village of Greetham, which is five minutes’ walk away. Greetham has all you need – a village store, two busy pubs with restaurants, a
