Pockets deep enough?

AS a long-time Land Rover user and owner I heard with dismay that the latest Defenders will all be high-end models and the more affordable ‘Baby Defender’ has been put on hold. It seems the larger 130 model will only be available in high spec and the company seems to be concentrating on developing ever-more-expensive versions such as the V8s.

This is all well and good if you have deep pockets but what about the rest of us – and where is the affordable entry vehicle into the Land Rover stable?

These latest developments seem to complete the marque’s transformation into a premium brand and I’m wondering where this leaves the enthusiast. Are Land Rovers just to be a rich man’s toy in future and how will all these
