Contacted by a reporter wanting to know if he was on – or, indeed, off – his last legs, American humorist Mark Twain wrote back, “The report of my death was an exaggeration.”
Suggestions that the All Blacks were back on top of world rugby were also exaggerations. True, they briefly regained first place in the world rankings, but that really just reinforced that there are lies, damned lies and world rankings.
