How did you get into bass?
I owe my route into playing bass to our producer Dan Lancaster. I’d already been playing other instruments since I was young, but at around 17 years old, he told me I should learn bass. He may have had an ulterior motive at the time, as it wasn’t long before I ended up playing in a band called Proceed with him. Either way, I never looked back! I first picked up a budget Yamaha five-string, which felt amazing to play but I just couldn’t recreate the tone on the records I was listening to at the time—mainly early Incubus with Alex Katunich on bass—so it wasn’t long before I traded it in for an Ibanez K5 Fieldy bass, despite never being into Korn as a band.
