First-time granny BAKE-OFF SUE’S BITTERSWEET CELEBRATION

Dreaming of precious newborn cuddles and cherished moments with her first grandchild and daughter in America, Sue Fleischl had been counting down the days to August.

But as the time grew closer to her departure and the country went into level 4 lockdown, The Great Kiwi Bake Off judge had to make the tough last-minute call to cancel the trip and miss being at the birth of her grandson, Jameson Alexander.

“I was meant to arrive in the States on the 23rd of August and he ended up being born on the 25th – one week after we went into lockdown,” shares Sue.

“I had planned to go for four weeks, followed by the two weeks of MIQ, but just with the way that Delta was looking, I was quite concerned I might lose my MIQ spot to people with Covid.
