Over the past 30 years, the Elton John Aids Foundation has raised $515m (£370m) worldwide, helped save an estimated five million lives through its work and supported more than 3,000 individual projects.

The organisation provides support services to people living with the disease and offers education programmes aimed at ending the stigma surrounding HIV and Aids.

Since its inception, it has helped take a condition that was once an automatic death sentence to one that can be treated, and enable those diagnosed to live long, healthy lives.
