Case study
Despite what the big genealogical websites might try to tell you, family history research isn’t easy. Looking for evidence of your ancestors’ origins in the surviving records can be quite a challenge, particularly in the era before civil registration of births, marriages and deaths. All too often, the information recorded in the Church of England’s parish registers just isn’t up to the job and working out whether a particular record of a baptism relates to your ancestor or not can seem like an insurmountable problem.
