A never-ending story

When working with clients and their dogs, I so often get asked the same question: when will my dog be fully trained?

As any trainer will know, there is simply no way to answer this. Every single dog is different and can only be trained in its own time. When I hear of dogs out in the shooting field at nine months, often people jump on the bandwagon saying it’s far too soon. And in the majority of cases, I am inclined to agree.

However, I have known dogs that have matured so much quicker than others. Their personality thrived on being stretched. Other dogs I have known are not ready at two years old. So for any client who wants an answer, I can give them an outline of what I would expect the dog to be doing and by
