Since its inception during the early 1960s, Formula Vee racing has been one of the most competitive and affordable forms of open-wheel racing anywhere in the world. A group of independent VW dealers developed it. Thanks to air-cooled VW parts being still widely available today, the series has stayed mostly unchanged since the ’60s, relying on engines, transmissions, and suspension components found on 1963 Beetles, wrapped in a basic steel-tube frame and a fiberglass body.
