NEWLY ELECTED KMT CHAIRMAN

Eric Chu won the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) election in Taiwan on September 25. He said he would strive to resume exchanges with the Chinese mainland, highlighting the importance of cross-Straits relations at a press conference inside KMT headquarters in Taipei.

Upon completing his Ph.D. in accounting in New York University, Chu returned to Taiwan and started working at Taiwan University in 1985. His political career started 13 years later.

The new KMT chairman is expected to lead the party through the 2022 local election and the 2024 election for the regional leadership.
