In 2010 John Smallwood, founder of Sportcruiser, decided to make a life-changing move from a career in accounting to the ever-changing and competitive industry of designing and manufacturing caravans. The caravan market is saturated with options and is a challenge for any company to make its product stand out and be unique with this evolving way to travel.

For most of his life, John has had a strong passion for sailing and caravanning around our country. It’s no surprise then that he is well in tune with what it takes for boats and caravans alike to withstand Australian conditions and provide comfort on the journey. John saw caravans being built back in 2010 that weren’t up to scratch when it came to structural integrity and use of materials, so he merged his knowledge of boats and caravans to build a van that drew inspiration from the foundation of boat building.
