TUCK UP YOUR HOME FOR WINTER
1 CUT THE GRASS
Now is the time to give your lawn a final mow before the growth slows down for the winter. Don’t cut lower than 2.5cm to allow the grass to build up strength for the cold months ahead. Top-dressing with the mower will also prevent weeds getting out of hand. Take the opportunity to give your lawn’s edges a neat finish too by using a half-moon lawn edging tool to create a crisp finish around the borders.
2 GET YOUR CENTRAL HEATING SERVICED
There’s nothing worse than turning on your central heating in autumn only to discover there’s a problem. So, before it gets too cold, have your boiler and central heating system serviced by a registered engineer. If your radiators are heating unevenly, you could try bleeding them yourself. You can’t bleed a radiator when the heating is on, as it may be too hot to touch and you could also get hot water spraying out of the radiator, so turn off your heating
