NATURE’S GOLD

f I walk the streets on an autumn day, I look with pity upon those folks dutifully gathering up their leaves and putting them in their green bins for collection. I really feel that they are squandering their garden’s inheritance by giving away their organic matter to the council and missing out on the opportunity to make wonderful leafmould for their garden. Who knows, they may even end up buying some of it back at some stage wrapped in a plastic sack marked ‘soil improver’?
