JACQUES DE MOLAY

THE INFAMOUS LAST GRAND MASTER OF THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR COULDN’T PROTECT THE ORDER FROM ITS POWERFUL ENEMIES C.1245 – 1314 FRANCE

Jacques de Molay was probably born in eastern France to a family of minor nobility and joined the Templars in 1265. He was appointed Grand Master in 1292, but this was a bad time to begin leading the Templars. The last Crusader fortresses in the Holy Land had fallen to the Mamluks in 1291, with the Templars retreating and moving their headquarters to Cyprus.
