Secrets of a happy life

Thinking back over 101 years is quite an ordeal sometimes. These days, I struggle to remember my great-grandchildren’s birthdays. Mind you, I have 15 of them! It’s sad to think I’m one of the last-surviving Women’s Royal Naval Service officers who served in World War Two.

We were known as the Wrens. As well as surviving The Blitz, I helped change magnetic fields of ships so they’d avoid mines.

Went to a few parties in submarines with handsome sailors along the way, too!
