BANGLE’S ANGLES

Some might say that Chris Bangle was destined to live in Italy, having been born in Ravenna, Ohio. One of the more notorious car designers of recent decades, Bangle did stints in Germany for Opel and BMW, where he almost single-handedly revolutionised the Munich company’s rather conservative styling strategy. His legacy can still be seen today, in the distinctly lairy look of currentgeneration BMWs. But some of the most interesting and attractive products of Bangle’s genius were created in Turin, during his 14-year rampage at Centro Stile Fiat. He obviously felt comfortable there, because nowadays he and his design consultancy are based just over an hour’s drive away.
