Just like Gene
Nige is one of my oldest friends and a very talented bike builder. A visit to his workshop is always a chance to see what else he’s been up to lately. In this case, it was a rather fetching flat-track styled Triumph he’s just finishing for a customer, Neal.
The story started when Neal brought a Triumph bobber he’d bought, sight unseen, in to Nige at D&N Engineering for some fettling. As Nige says, ‘It really wasn’t a nice bike, so we had to make it into one.’With that task completed, and the relationship and bond between owner and builder created, Neal was after another project. He looked up at the T140 frame Nige had stored in the rafters.
‘Can we do something with that?’
The frame was part of a T140E that Nige had bought as an unfinished project some 19 years ago. Although he had plans for it, it had remained virtually untouched all that time.
