He may only be19 years old but Ryan Gravenberch has discovered that his status is rapidly changing. At the start of last season the midfielder was still regarded as a talented youngster. In the Europa League quarter-finals a few months later Roma thought that his role was so essential that they opted for a man-marking job on him. This was much to the delight of his Ajax coach Erik ten Hag, who says that scenarios like that are part of his development. “For him that is a great situation and he has to find a solution. He will adapt himself and improve like he has always done.”
