It may be defined as a state of clarity, motivation and productivity, but let’s be clear, ‘flow’ sounds a bit woo-woo. It’s been more than four decades since University of Chicago psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi first coined the term after studying the crossroads of happiness and optimal performance, and the rather fuzzy term for what is a genuine physiological response in the brain and body has stuck.
