PINKNEYS GREEN HERE WE COME!

Thanks to the Whittakers and James Wren Davis, Old Glory was invited on Thursday 26 August to take part in a unique road run starting from the Wren Davis milk farm near Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, where the family have been for some 98 years. The end destination was Carters Fair stationed at Pinkneys Green, Maidenhead, Berkshire.

I suppose it all started when the Whittakers were looking for a venue to debut their, so authentic in detail, 1923 23rd March four-berth showman’s living van.

The showman’s van was made by Charles D Phillips Ltd, whose main base was at the Emlyn Engineering Works, Newport, Monmouthshire, and who had other bases in Gloucestershire and London. By the time this van had been built the founder had passed on, but in any event, this company justifies an article in their own right, although that’s for another time.
