SEATRUCK 25 YEARS SAILING ON THE IRISH SEA
The Irish Sea freight ferry operator Seatruck, with its eight-strong fleet of purpose-built ro-ro vessels, celebrates 25 years of operations this year. Since its founding, with a single vessel on the Heysham-Warrenpoint route in April 1996, Seatruck has grown from a fledgling operator to the market leader for unaccompanied freight on the Irish Sea. The company continues to focus on the three principles on which it was founded: unaccompanied freight, minimising mileage for hauliers, and keeping overheads low.
Today, Seatruck offers up to 66 sailings a week on three freight ferry routes: Liverpool-Dublin, Heysham-Dublin and Heysham-Warrenpoint, shipping 6,500 freight units a week. The Seatruck fleet comprises four FSG class ro-ro vessels built in Flensburg, Germany in 2011 and 2012, and four P class ro-ro vessels, built in Huelva and Seville, Spain in 2008 and 2009. Six vessels are currently operated directly by Seatruck and two are chartered out.
