10 MINUTES TO SPARE

Move any outdoor pots containing alpine plants under shelter to protect them from rain – heavy downpours won’t drain fast enough from containers. While the plants should cope fine with the colder temperatures that autumn and winter bring, they will struggle to survive sitting in cold, wet soil.

Collect seeds

Snip the ripe seedheads from climbing plants before you start maintenance pruning and store the seed to sow next) and annuals such as Chilean glory flower all set seed now.
