Ask Matthew…

Q I’m having trouble autofocusing on birds with my Z 6II and AF-S 200-500mm lens via an FTZ adapter. Any tips?

Graeme Hogg

A Autofocus performance of F-mount lenses with an FTZ adapter isn’t limited in any way, compared with using them on an F-mount DSLR. And the impressive autofocus tracking of the Z 6II is improved over that of the original Z 6. Even so, small birds can be problematic.

For stationary birds, try switching to Single-point AF or even Pinpoint AF
