The Chameleon

DES Mead was born in 1928, and that year was a major motivator in him buying this ’28 Dodge sedan as an 80th birthday present for himself.

Besides crudely mounted tube shocks, it was a complete vintage vehicle with some mild restoration done at some point in its life, after being sold initially new by the G.T. Gillies dealership in Oamaru. It was still in Oamaru in 2008 when Des bought it.

Des drove the car all the way to the North Island,
