WE ARE bombarded on the news and in other media on the subject of how climate change will affect us. Weather patterns will change. Glaciers are melting. There could be food shortages, floods, oppressively hot summers… But what about birds? How could climate change affect them? In particular, what does the future hold for the migratory species?

Bearing in mind that some species of birds have migratory routes that span thousands of miles, it would seem only reasonable to assume that changes in climate could have a big impact on migration. We know that over thousands of years, migratory species have established annual cycles
