Major French websites sold

French family history website Filae () has been taken), while Geneanet (), another French website, has been acquired by Ancestry (). The news comes after Geneanet made a failed takeover bid to purchase Filae in January 2021. Gilad Japhet, chief executive officer of MyHeritage, said that MyHeritage will “maintain Filae’s independence and existing team”. Deborah Liu, president and chief executive officer of Ancestry, commented, “Ancestry is committed to continued investment in Geneanet’s free tree-building platform and the volunteer spirit of its community.”
