CUTTING SALT’S HARM
alt substitutes may appreciably reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, according to findings from one of the largest. More than 20,000 Chinese adults were randomly assigned to use either a reduced-sodium, added-potassium salt substitute or regular table salt. Among those with a history of stroke, high blood pressure or over the age of 60, use of the salt substitute significantly reduced rates of stroke, heart attack and death.
