Hardy Ground Cherries

was so happy to see Amyrose Foll give a shoutout to ground cherries in her article “Saving Culturally books about Laura gathering ground cherries, so I looked them up online and ordered seed. Sure enough, we had a hailstorm in 2020 with nickel-sized hail and 50 mph winds that lasted 20 minutes. The ground cherries were fine. The fruits grow under thick, spreading leaves, so even though the leaves were torn up, the fruits themselves survived. And they’re delicious! I can’t say enough good things about that little fruit. Thanks for spreading awareness!
