Removing the body from the chassis

WHY remove the body from a Discovery or Range Rover when many jobs can be carried out to the underside of your truck with the body raised in the air? Prime among the reasons would be to carry out repairs to rusted areas of the body underside and/or chassis. But there are also lots of other jobs that are more easily carried out with the body off the chassis: the objective might be to repair the chassis, but a clutch change, or engine or gearbox change can also be done at the same time with relative ease. Many owners have removed the body from an old Discovery 1, simply to harvest the engine and drivetrain for another Land Rover project. Whatever the reason, suitable lifting gear is essential to safely raise a bulky body shell weighing in excess of one tonne.
