Beat / You‘ve gone through many different stages as a band, constantly defining and redefining your relationship with technology. How would you describe that relationship for you today?
Duncan Bellamy / We have been utilising technology to write and create our music for several years now. It’s an intrinsic part of our process. It’s mainly a tool to aid writing, as much of our music is composed rather than improvised. That doesn‘t mean there isn‘t room for improvisation – many of the initial ideas stem from improvising – but using the laptop helps us to make sketches, and then to consider and elaborate on them. In one way or another, we have been using technology and electronics to augment our sound since our second record Isla.
