If I found a buyer for these three shotguns, I’d be lucky to get $500 total for them. However, the value I place on them can’t be found in any price guide.
On a raw December day in 1991, I had the privilege of hunting pheasants with Rod Fuller on and around his farm outside of Grant in western Nebraska. Fuller, who passed away in 2015, was known as the guru of all things Browning. I was there to write a newspaper article about his internationally known gun dealership. It was the first of several times that Fuller graciously hosted my friends and me for an afternoon of chasing roosters.
Despite his notoriety in gun-collecting circles, Fuller seemed like just another guy who liked shotguns and the open prairie. We were much alike, I surmised, except for one obvious difference: The day we met, Fuller was carrying a beautiful side-by-side boxlock of Spanish extraction, and I was hunting with my Remington 870 Express. (By my calculation, at that time the value difference between the two would have been a mere $12,800 or so.)
