Hello High Times family, it’s the time of year we’ve all been waiting for—the days are shorter, the leaves are fading, and we’re one step closer to tasting the fruits of our labor. That’s right, we’re talking harvest time. The end of the growing season is on the horizon and we’d like to offer our time-tested tips for the best success.

Harvest is more than just chop and hang. You’ve spent countless hours pampering your prize crop, and although there are many methods and preferences to this vital step in the growing process, we’re giving you the pros and cons of different techniques, along with our suggestions to ensure you get the most out of your hard work.

THE PRE-HARVEST AND CHOP

There are many valid paths to ensure we get to enjoy the buds that we’ve invested so much time and energy into. There are, however, a few things that we all need to know and recognize to start our pre-harvest ritual. The two main indicators we are looking for are trichome color and senescence. There are many preferences here, but it is ideal to wait until the trichomes are at least all cloudy—from there, growers prefer a different percentage of amber trichomes. This is a sign that the precious cannabinoids and terpenes have peaked in their production
