A FAIR START FOR ALL

s we head into the new academic year, (hopefully one that is less disrupted than the last!), there are new starts for many. Early years and childcare settings will be welcoming) and the Sylvia Adams Charitable Trust highlights the inequalities created by offering additional funded hours for children whose parents are in work, compared to those from low incomes. This is widening the attainment gap between the poorest children and their peers before they even start school. An urgent review of this policy is required, with additional funding to support the most disadvantaged in our society and ensure improved ‘school readiness’.
