THE PASSION OF PIOLO
I came that day in the eighth-floor studio armed with a liter of caffeine and echt curiosity. Just days ago, I gushed with colleagues on the possibility of finally meeting such a character, ever so talked about and undeniably desired by many. I listened in silent wonder as those who had met him relayed candid accounts of his kindness, his charismatic nature, and of course, his incredibly handsome looks.
To attempt writing an honest profile without acknowledging his striking features would be blasphemy to his loyal fanbase. There is absolute truth, as I would find out, in the history of screams and tears when in the presence of such a man like Piolo Pascual. At that exact moment where I mustered caution before blurting out my first hello, I quickly realized the uncanny realism of previous records: how the first meet with Piolo (or Papa P to many) reminds one that the word stunning is both adjective and verb.
Of course, one would have to be living under a rock not to know the Piolo Pascual. The Golden Age of Star Magic marked the discovery of now-iconic names in the local entertainment industry under the tutelage of Johnny Manahan, or Mr. M, in the mid-90s. And through this pioneering vision of celebrity that defined his handpicked set of artists, hard work was rewarded with opportunity and abundance.
