Hello! The subject of the modes comes up a lot with many of my students. Most students will have a basic understanding of these scales, in the sense of what they are and how to play them—but when it comes to implementing these modes into their musical vocabulary, this will often pose much more of a challenge for them. Let’s figure out why!

In this month’s lesson, I’ll tell you about my simple approach to these scales, how I think about them, and how I’ve worked them into my vocabulary.
