ROSIE FRY and True Blue Too II scored their first win together at CCI4*-L when a clear round across country boosted the combination to the top of the leaderboard ahead of the final showjumping.

“Showjumping can be our weakest phase,” admitted Rosie, who was feeling added pressure as she reflected back to 2012 when she was overnight leader in the same class here on Bankon Louie, only for it to “fall apart” in the showjumping. But she didn’t have to worry, as her aunt Di White-Hamilton’s home-bred 10-year-old gelding by Jigilo kept the rails in place for a clear inside the time.

The pair were in ninth after the dressage on 33.2 when a mistake in their flying changes cost them. But Rosie’s forward cross-country round – the second fastest of the day, incurring 2.8 time-penalties – resulted in the pair overtaking overnight dressage leaders Nicola Wilson and Erano M.
