FOR MANY YEARS
Australia’s most formidable annual motorcycling fixture had been the intercity Reliability Trial between Melbourne and Sydney. But after the Great War of 1914-1918, the event became so poorly supported that the New South Wales Motor Cycle Club (NSWMCC) announced its intention to organise a Six Day Trial to be held entirely in its home state.
Initial newspaper reports speculated this might be titled the “One Thousand Miles
