SAFE ZONE

It’s been almost 20 years since I have been to the place I once credited for saving my life as a child: Montauk, New York.

Montauk is a beautiful, picturesque town with storybook features, quaintly nestled at the very end of Long Island, New York, and in the early to mid-’90s, my family would vacation there when it was still the four of us, before everything fell apart and we all went our separate ways. Every time we went on vacation there was like heaven to me, a safe place where my worries could vanish at the sight of a sand-weathered fence post or the faded gift shop awning blistered from the high sun.
