    P3 starter rebuild

    A friend recently acquired a tidy, P3-powered Ferguson TE-20 that had been standing unused for a couple of years. A fresh battery was fitted, but he couldn’t get any life out of the starter motor. With a forthcoming road run approaching and hopes to use the tractor on this, he contacted me for some help.

    Over the years I have seen various methods of wiring Perkins P3 conversions on Ferguson tractors and have drawn the conclusion that they varied according to the dealership or workshop that was responsible for the work.
