Will Rawlin

WILL RAWLIN comes from a non-horsey background, but success in sport runs through his veins. His father Andy was an Olympic cross-country skier, and Will has his sights set on following in his father’s Olympic footsteps. Will was a keen hockey player and a successful swimmer who represented his country at county championship level, but it was horses – and the adrenaline of cross-country – that stole his heart.

As an eight-year-old, he declared to his parents he wanted to pursue a career in horses full-time. And at 27, the Wiltshire-based event rider is set to make his five-star debut at Bicton on his home-produced 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding, VIP Vinnie. The pair were due to compete at Badminton last year, and though the event’s cancellation due to the pandemic was “disappointing”, Will confesses he is grateful for the extra preparation time, with Vinnie feeling stronger and fitter than ever.
