Grand Tourers. They’re the cars that, secretly, most of us would want in our garage had we access to unlimited funds. After all, what’s not to like about the thought of a stylish car, with a big engine, boot space, and realistically only enough space in the cabin for you and your significant other to whisk yourself away to some of Europe’s most stylish cities? And through the 1950s and 1960s, Britain got rather good at producing grandes routières which wouldn’t look out of place in Monaco or Paris. By the 1970s, many of our esteemed marques had left us – Alvis, AC, Allard, and more. And Bristols, eccentric as they were, really were in a different bracket in terms of price.
