Stephen Lovatt knows The End of the Golden Weather better than most. A large part of his acting career has been devoted to inviting us to “join him in a voyage into the past, to that territory of the heart we call childhood”.
He has done the original monologue of playwright Bruce Mason’s touchstone solo work dozens of times in dozens of places. Further following in Mason’s early 1960s footsteps, Lovatt took it to the Edinburgh Festival, where the performance handbills advertised it as “starring Max from ” after his five years on
