ardly anyone in New Zealand got the flu last year, thanks to the closure of our borders and the social-distancing measures in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now there is a concern that once borders open again, we will see a rebound, with the arrival of new variants of common viruses and a population that is more vulnerable to them, as a result of having been protected for so long.
