Sky’s no limit

The Thames towpath by Barnes in west London is the picture of modern English sobriety. The river and its banks are in their usual state of abandonment; even the tide is leaving town. A few runners sweat past and two members of the wealthy and idle stand looking across the water to the opposite side. It’s the last place you would expect to find a design studio working on the largest private yacht the world has ever seen – not to mention the private jets and fantasy mansions. But it’s here, in a riverside complex of old buildings that used to house the fire station, that Winch Design has its home.
